Our Kumpania is on a mission, and it's what makes us unique
We wholeheartedly believe that performing arts are the threads that weave all cultures together, and it is our greatest pleasure to share our tapestry with audiences around the country. But it's not enough to just show what we have learned, we want to teach it as well.
Every dance, every song, and every circus art we perform is rooted deeply in history and culture. It is important to us that each performance is prefaced by a lesson about where these arts come from and what makes them significant to the nations that created them..
Did you know that the first jugglers were Egyptian women 4,000 years ago? Or that Bhangra means "intoxicated with joy?" How about that Flamenco was inspired by Romany street dancers? These are just a few of the rich pieces of history we bring to our audiences. Whoever said entertainment and education have to be separate?
Your patrons can expect to see all variety of circus acts, from juggling to fire eating, and folk dances with a range from the Great Plains of North America to the Punjab state of India.
But words can only do so much to summarize what we have to share with your patrons! Visit www.youtube.com/thekumpania for examples of our work!
On the stage, and in the lanes
Our talents are not limited to stagecraft. What we love more than anything is getting up close and personal! Why limit your patrons to watching our dances when they can learn them too? Let us roam your faire's lanes or your festival's streets with a variety of interactive performances for guests of all ages!
